A little bit about Ms. Rodriguez
I began my professional career as a health educator visiting elementary schools and high schools throughout the city of Chicago teaching about health education and prevention. Later, I worked as a Child Protection Investigator for the Department of Children and Family Services. And, for the last 9 years I have worked in various capacities for ASPIRA Inc. of Illinois.
I graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a bachelors degree in Liberal Arts and Science. I went back to school a few years ago and completed a Masters in Business Administration from National Louis University. There I realized that technology teachers must ensure that students are well equipped to enter the workforce and navigate a complex world. I also realized that technology can help support learning and it is especially useful in developing higher order skills. Every job opportunity out will expect that their employees be fluent using computers and can adapt to the way technology evolves.
My main objective for the students in this class is to prepare them to easily adapt to a world that is ever changing and to expose students to new and innovative computer applications. Students will be introduced to the traditional tools available within Microsoft Office, in addition to other more innovative and creative applications available to us. I am committed to teach you about tools that will help you become better students and that at the end of my class you feel more confident in the use of computers and computer programs and applications. I encourage creativity and the exchange of ideas in every assignment and project.
In my free time I like to sit down in front of my laptab searching for information about new and fun online applications that I think you may enjoy. And if I do not have my laptop with me- :-) I like to go out and do fun things with my 3 daughters. I love music, dancing, hiking, reading or listening to anything related to technology. I find the subject of technology so fascinating and since it evolves so fast there is always something new to learn.
I look forward to learn about you and the experiences that you bring to the classroom.
